Child of the Universe

About Child of the Universe

When I initially wrote Child (back in the nineties) I was not aware of the full extent of its meaning. Beyond the relationship between the mother and the child in her womb, I had a difficult time explaining the essence of the book. Since then, I have begun to understand that it is a treatise on how to be a spiritual person, almost like a how to book on the spiritual life as told by the child in the womb. This is metaphysics, a transcendental work that goes beyond what we can ordinarily know with our finite oriented thought processes.

I had to let go of the writing before I was able to comprehend the full meaning of this work. Once I did that it occurred to me that one of the messages here has to do with being a child forever, throughout all of eternity. As far as the Creator is concerned, aging and death are equally ludicrous. Our physical demise is more like a grandiose graduation, nothing to fear, certainly nothing that should create paranoia. As far as the Creator is concerned we are, always and forever, his children. I believe that I had to watch my father die recently to truly understand the rather remarkable phenomenon of aging from up close and personal.

I had no idea when I was writing this book what it really meant, or even more so, what it would mean to me ten years later. To put it bluntly, 'Child' came through me, rather than from me. I know that sounds strange, but that is the only way the writer in me can explain how this book came into being. To put it another way, I had no idea what I was doing when I wrote it. All I know now is that it emerged from deep within the recesses of my superconscious mind, which is something we all share with the Creator himself.
